Everything You Need to Know About the Pinewood Derby 2014
Cubs! Are you ready for this year's Pinewood Derby? Hope so, because it's taking place soon--on Saturday, February 22!
Friday Night
We'll have our usual setup on Friday night, February 21, starting at 6:00 p.m. Parents who volunteered to set up the track. We're borrowing one (ooooohhh)--details to come on whether we need help transporting it.
Kids can test their cars on the track until 8:00 or 8:30. We'll also have the scales there Friday night to make sure the cars are within the proper weight requirements.
Saturday
The Derby will start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22. Check-in will start at 12:30--be sure to get there early enough to sign in and weigh in. We'll have some tools, weights, and hot glue guns available for any last-minute adjustments and repairs.
Be sure to check out the official Pinewood Derby rules to make sure your car meets all the regulations.
Tyler Davis, our intrepid den chief, has volunteered to be our master of ceremonies. Thanks, Tyler!
Parents and siblings are welcome to run the non-official race!
We'll also have a prize for Best in Show (best-looking car), so get your vote on, Cubs!
Everyone who participates will receive a participant medal and a Pinewood Derby patch. First, second, and third place winners will get a trophy.
Because we're starting later in the day to avoid conflicts with basketball, we will not have lunch. However, we will have snacks and milk for everyone.
If you have any questions, be sure to give us a shout at [email protected]. See you at the Derby, Cubs!
